Background information:
Glass stillages are metal racks, often equipped with a lifting eye, which simplifies the transport of glass plates. The glass stillage is loaded at the factory and deposited on the construction site. Empty glasstillages are usually immediately taken back. Furthermore, the glass stillage is in principle comparable to the pallet. It is a reusable means of transport for products. Even a deposit system, which applies to various types of pallets, is also known on the glass stillages.
Architectural details:
Since flat glass can be transported most conveniently in standing position, the glass stillage has been developed. The lifting eye makes it possible, for example for trucks with their own crane, to be easily loaded and unloaded. The construction workers can lift the glass plates off the stillage at their own pace and place them in the window frames. It is not uncommon for glass stillages to also be used for transporting window frames.
