Background information:
Built in 1865, the richly decorated building with originally indoor coach house has not yet achieved a listed status. With this age and location, the building has seen the Langstraat railroad come and go. On the other side of the street, there is only the watchman's house that reminds us of the railway past. Much can change in more than 150 years, although the front and side views of this building have hardly changed in all that time. The back has been somewhat adapted over time to the ever-changing housing requirements.
Architectural details:
With a living area of 159m2, the property is, in today's terms, a spacious detached house with many original details. Consider, for example, the “tree of life” above the front door and the many wall anchors on the four facades. The building has been modernized several times, especially inside. The brick format differs from what we call standard in the Netherlands. This format is smaller than the commonly used Waal format, and even slightly smaller than the IJssel format. Also interesting is the dual color of the brickwork. Mainly a sand-yellow brick color has been chosen, but details such as roller layers and mohair combs, above the window frames, have been carried out in a more red-brown color.
