Background information:
These kind of family houses were built a lot, among others in the province of Noord-Brabant. Around the year 1958 in villages, towns and cities. They were meant to be rented out to people who had no house and not a lot of money. Houses were needed very badly in those years. Later on some of the houses were sold, often to the people who had rented them. That’s why owned and rented houses are in the same street now, some times under the same roof.
In those years a shower in the house was a luxury, but those houses had (still have) one. On the other hand; the overall scarcity of products in those year led to a lower quality of the masonry.
Architectural details:
The houses are built in "Wildverband". Wildverband is the most common masonry in Dutch houses after 1940. At the front are segment arches and ornamental brickwork.
The rooftiles are called "Nieuwe Hollander". The sheds have been carried out in half-brick masonry, in combination with a bitumen roofing material.
