Background information: Sidewalks in the Netherlands are most common parallel to the road, to separate the pedestrian and sometimes also the cyclists from motorized traffic. Through an elevation between the pavement and the driving-edge, it is quickly clear to all users which space is intended for which user.
Architectural details: The Markenburg pavement is supplied with extra underlay so that when the lane is placed next to it, the difference in height arises that we also see in reality. The curbs that are located between the sidewalks and the driving line are also included in these sets. Between the curbs and roadway we often find a water gutter, especially at the sidewalk with drain. Water gutters can be ordered separately and in different widths.
