Background information:
The railway line between Oisterwijk and Boxtel, in North Brabant, crosses, among other things, a brook that is approximately 10 kilometers long and a maximum of two meters wide called Rosep. The current concrete bridge was built in 1995 and, like its predecessor, has a double track. Because the entire bridge, including foundations, has been replaced, there is now sufficient width to allow cable ducts, inspection paths and the gravel bed of the tracks to cross. From the driver's perspective, only the steel fences on both sides reveal the exact location of the bridge.
Architectural details:
As often happened from the 1980s, the bridge consists entirely of reinforced concrete prefabricated parts. The stream flows through an opening approximately 5.5 meters wide. On which there are other concrete elements that are very similar to the bridge construction over the Blauwhoefseloop. (SKU 03KCW04) This construction method requires little time on site, so that train traffic would be less affected. In addition, concrete offers excellent resistance to the water of the stream. Steel and also the joints in masonry are less resistant to this and require more maintenance.
Vegetation, rails and vehicles in the photos of the Rosep Bridge are not included.
