More information

Background information:
There are numerous known variants of the concrete fence. For example, we find this "half-height" (1 meter high) variant of the concrete fence in Leuven, among other places. A nice detail are the top plates or panels that are slid in per section. These have a faceted bulge at the top and are equipped with seven upright openings. We find this type of closure more often in Belgium than in the Netherlands. We find other types of concrete fences more often in the Netherlands than in Belgium. But we also find copies in Germany, France and England. After all, making them is not too difficult and the (reinforced) concrete elements will defy Western European weather conditions for decades. Even without maintenance.

In the Netherlands we talk about a fence, or if it needs to be a bit neater, a boundary fence. In Flanders people seem to be talking about a closure more quickly. Yet we are all talking about the same thing. On this website we match the name to the location where the model can most often be found, or has been.
